GLOBAL Awarded $6.7M Contract to Provide Security Services for Afghan Clean Energy Project | SecurityMiddleEast.com

Global Strategies Group (GLOBAL), a leading provider of integrated security and defense technology, was awarded a four-year, $6.7M, contract to provide security services in support of the International Relief Group (IRG) Afghan Clean Energy Project (ACEP) in Kabul, Afghanistan.

IRG is an international professional services firm, specialising in implementing development programmes, managing critical resources and assisting institution building. The ACEP Project is tasked with installing and overseeing clean energy and energy efficiency projects in over 335 villages across Afghanistan.

Driven by a demand from its overseas clients, SGW, one of the UK’s foremost security consultancies, has designed two new specialised security training courses.

The Security Projects Training Course is aimed at everyone involved in planning a major security and CCTV surveillance system project or responsible for managing a security budget. The course content includes a module based approach to project delivery and maintenance. Delegates will exit the course with a clear understanding of the various processes and procedures to be applied, from conception to completion of a security project and will be given examples of ‘lessons learnt’ from actual projects with a focus on ‘Best Value’ procurement initiatives.

The recent announcement made by the Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia that it had arrested three Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula terrorist cells made up of 113 individuals including a significant number of foreign nationals reinforces the fact that Oil and Gas infrastructure remains an important strategic target. The two smaller of the three cells, made up a total of twelve suicide bombers who were specifically tasked with attacking oil and gas facilities in the Eastern Province.
