Security Week: Safety, Sustainability and Crowd Management
From 21 to 25 September Bucks New University is hosting the inaugural Security Week at Missenden Abbey in Buckinghamshire
21 September: Planning for an armed intruder in an educational setting
Focused on the growing threat to schools and colleges of an armed intruder entering educational premises, this day features presentations from senior figures with first-hand experience of tragedies such as Dunblane and Hungerford along with highly practical workshops.
22 September: Counter terrorism in crowded places
Offering a series of perspectives on dealing with counter terrorism in areas and events attracting mass crowds, this day includes presentations from representatives of both NaCTSO and OSCT, as well as other industry experts and examples of UK government training exercises.
23 September: The Sustainable Event Management conference
The increasing focus on environmental and green issues is discussed by a range of industry figures on this day, with key topics including emissions from related travelling, planning sustainable events, and maintaining and developing sustainable initiatives during an economic downturn.
24/25 September: The 8th European Health and Safety Conference
Two days packed with presentations, workshops and exercises focused on counter terrorism, crowd modelling, simulations and emergency planning. A must for venue managers, local authority personnel, and event and festival organisers; this conference also offers extensive networking opportunities including a gala dinner on the evening of Thursday 24 September.
Securing the Future
The launch of Securing the Future - a framework of continuous professional development qualifications for the security sector developed by Bucks New University and The Business School, University of Worcester, takes place at Missenden Abbey during Security Week on Tuesday 22 September, starting at 7pm. The evening also celebrates the opening of the Sorensen Security Library at Bucks New University.
